Onward Search is looking for a Web Content Manager to join our public sector client in downtown Atlanta!

Position Scope:

  • This is an hourly, W2 contract opportunity expected to initially last for around 6 months and then extend in 6-month increments for an indefinite and ongoing time.
  • This is an onsite, 40hr/wk role in downtown Atlanta. Remote candidates will NOT be considered.
  • Benefits are available throughout the length of the engagement. A 401k is available after 6 months of employment.
  • Target salary for the role is approximately $50,000/yr, paid on an hourly W2 basis.

Position Summary:

  • You will work with the Information Technology department to ensure websites and webpages follow best content practices and meet the diverse needs of internal and external customers.
  • As part of a team dedicated to a content-first delivery approach, you must understand business needs, map them to the end-user needs, and work with the agency’s business units to create a content strategy and plan for individual websites and webpages.

Primary Functions:

  • Act as a liaison between the Communications Department, IT, and content managers serving the agency’s various business units.
  • Based on analytics and user research, create a content strategy and direction that meets the needs of the agency’s business units and other internal customers.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team and internal customers to refine and advance editorial vision and mission.
  • Demonstrate sharp editing and writing skills, with an in-depth knowledge of content selection, content creation, and graphic creation.
  • Determine and manage sources for content creation, both internally and externally, in collaboration with Communications Team and IT.
  • Conceptualize and create design templates/layouts for project pages before publishing.
  • Assist in the management of the organization’s workflows and editorial guidelines, so content is timely and consistent with brand voice, style, and tone.
  • Remain up-to-date with the latest industry trends, content performance metrics, and customer challenges to build a more effective editorial calendar.
  • Participate in customer requirements gathering and discovery meetings.
  • Support Communications Team in presenting a content strategy to stakeholders and senior managers and gain buy-in on the proposed approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on work experience in digital/web content writing and production experience, preferably in a large, complex organization.
  • 5+ years of experience in content management systems; preferably Drupal and SharePoint
  • Strong paper and editorial skills
  • 1+ year of experience reading analytics using software like Google Analytics
  • Strong work ethic and passion for design, content strategy, and promoting content on social media.
  • Conducts compelling customer/user interviews and has strong organizational skills.
  • 5+ years of experience working with usability, usability testing, usability heuristics.
  • Ability to communicate with the user experience team using a common language.
  • 5+ years of web publishing best practices and accessibility
  • 5+ years managing social media content.
  • 5+ years of experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Awareness of cognitive biases, and how they impact decision making.
  • Communication skills: listening, verbal, writing, and visual communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
